When To Migrate

• 3 Scenarios
• 1) The Change is so small that a migration is not
  economically sound.
• Make the modification in V4.
• Example A simple option modification, such as
  changing a feedrate.
• 2) The Change is so significant that
  Reprogramming the part is more productive than
  salvaging an existing program.
• Migrate the Geometry only.
• Example An engineering change that impacts
  nearly all or all of the operations, such as a
  loft modification.
• 3) The Change impacts geometric features but not
  the whole part.
• Migrate the Geometry and the NC-Set
• Example A sub pocket contraction to increase the
  strength of the part.

1) Create AptSource from CATIA V4 NCMILL Set
2) Migrate V4 Model To V5
3) Create V5 Product including V4 Model and V5
Model
4) Import V4 NC-Set into V5 CATProcess Document
5) Associate AptSource to V5 Program
6) Modify- Verify V5 Program
7) Create V5 Program output

• 1) Create Aptsource From V4 NC-Mill Set
• UTILITY - CATNC
• Copy - Tracut Processing
• Apt Words
• PPRINT Processing
• PPRINT

• 2) Migrate V4 Model to V5
• Open V4 Model In V5
• Select Master from the Spec Tree and Copy
• Create a New Part
• Select Part from spec Tree and Paste
• Paste Special - As Spec if modification of
  geometry is required.

• 3) Create V5 Product including V4 Model and V5
  migrated Part
• File - New - Product
• Insert Existing Component (V4Model)
• Insert Existing Component (V5 Part)

• 4) Import NC-Set into V5 CATProcess
• File - New - Process
• Activate the NC-Review workbench
• Read Manufacturing Data From V4 Model
• This Activates a File Selection Box. Select the
  Product Created in Step 3
• Upon Selection of the Product Document you are
  presented with a dialog box for the selection of
  the NC-Set. Select the NC-Set for association,
  from the list

• 5) Associate Aptsource to V5 Program
• Associate Output NC File to program
• This Activates a File Selection Box. Select the
  Aptsource Created in Step1

• V4 Multi-Pocket
• Explode in V4 Before Aptsource Creation
• Copy - Tracut
• Must use APT Words in V4 Aptsource
• Rework Side operations
• Must be reprogrammed in V5
• PPRINT Option must be activated when creating the
  Aptsource
