Aim of the project
  • To improve life quality in Latvia (LV) and
    Estonia (EE) by developing effective population
    based hereditary cancer (HC) screening and
    management system model and combating hereditary
    cancer in border regions.

Positive experience during implementation
  • 1. Implementation of activities / financial flow
  • Regular meetings serve as basis for involvement
    of project staff, allows to follow time schedule
    and take quick decisions
  • Successful project extension in time, budget
    changes, as also procedures due to change in
    legal status of project partner
  • Telephone conferences as instrument /
    alternative to encourage partners for joint
    discussions and decisions (also savings on
    travel, meeting expenses)

Implementation problems (challenges)
  • 1. Implementation of activities / financial flow
  • Project partner (EE) funding problems, which
    caused delay in project implementation (WP2)
  • Delays in project activities mostly because of
    administration issues (procurement procedures,
    internal organization processes always take more
    time as planned)
  • In project activities more actual staff involved
    than planned (procurement, personnel division
    staff)
  • hard to motivate for meetings project partners
    (overload of staff, overlapping of other events,
    meetings, hard to find date suitable for all)

  • 2. Reporting, auditing
  • Staff cost calculation requirements, which make
    the main reason in reporting delays
  • Not clearly defined and changing requirements of
    auditors. Every step in project you do, you
    always think how it will be interpreted by
    auditors
