Geoprocessing

• Web Processing Service (WPS) is used to enable
  geographic operations over the Internet, e.g.
• Simple spatial operations
• Buffer, Intersect
• Attribute manipulations
• Change in farming practices between census years
• Spatial Interpretations
• PARS
• Complicated modelling
• Soil erosion, Climate change
• WPS to be implemented at Agriculture Canada
  through an open source Java framework for web
  services. The same framework will be used for
  next version of GeoGratis for order processing.
• Current status is Discussion Paper

Sensor Web Enablement

• Sensor Web Enablement comprises a suite of
  specifications
• Transducer Markup (TML)/Sensor ML
• Sensor Observation Service (SOS)
• Sensor Notification Service
• Sensor Planning Service
• Environment Canada implementation of SWE
• ResEau portal implements SWE (SensorML, SOS, OM)
• Over 5000 SensorML documents published
• SensorML catalogs
• EC to publish water quality observations SOS in
  fall 2006
• Requirements for tools for creation, mgmt and
  discovery of SensorML documents

Digital Rights Management

• Digital Rights Management is for securing access
  to web services and enforcing license
  restrictions on digital data.
• Abstract reference model has been written, to be
  included as part of the OGC Abstract
  Specification. GeoConnections Best Practices
  Guide was used as input to this document.
• Identifies geo-specific pieces in an overall
  DRM architecture. Non-geo aspects to be covered
  by mainstream web security standards
• Implementation profile being worked on which uses
  the Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP)

Votes and Motions at OGC meeting next week

• 1. Requesting formation of the GeoDRM
  Reference Model, Catalogue ebRIM App Profile,
  GMLJP2, and SensorML revision working groups.2.
  Requesting that all the current Recommendation
  Papers become Best Practices papers.3.
  Requesting retirement of multiple Discussion
  Papers.4. Requesting approval of the GeoRSS
  White Paper for public release.5. Requesting
  approval of the SWE White Paper for public
  release.

  support in OGC common, harmonizing feature
  portrayal, SOAP catalog support
• Sensor Web Enablement (SWE) further work to
  advance the specifications
• Compliance testing (CITE) updating tests to
  latest approved specs
• Geoprocessing workflow (GPW) data aggregation
  services, WPS, service chaining
• CAD/BIM integrating CAD/FM space with GIS
• Video of OWS-3 demo is available

Future work

• Pilot project to address the recommendations
  listed in the AMEC WFS report is in the early
  planning stages.
• Test operational implementations of distributed
  WFS for GeoBase data.
