    things going on in second Grade this year!

  • I attend Oakdale Baptist Church
  • I received my associated degree in Early
    Childhood Development in 1998
  • I attended Southern Wesleyan University and
    received my bachelors of Science degree in
    Elementary Education and Early Childhood
    Education in 2001
  • Teacher of the Year 2008-2009
  • My experience
  • I taught in a private school for 3 years.
  • I have been part of public education for 8 years
  • This is my sixth year in second grade

My Goals For This Year
  • To give you the academic and social skills
    students need to progress to third grade.
  • To provide a supportive and fun classroom
    environment.
  • To help students make new friends and discover
    new interests.
  • To be a help to students and parents if any
    questions should arise during the school year.
  • To making Learning FUN!!!!!

Materials Needed
  • All second graders will need the following.
  • 1 box of crayons (any size)
  • 1 bar eraser
  • 1 bottle of school glue or a glue stick
  • 1 pair of scissors
  • 1 Expo Marker
  • 1 Red Three Prong 2 pocket folders.
  • 1 Blue Three Prong 2 pocket folders.
  • 1 Yellow Three Prong 2 pocket folders.
  • 10 (2) Pencils
  • Your childs teacher request the following
    individual supplies.

Classroom Community
  • Our classroom is a community. In our community,
    we have rules to help us get along with each
    other.
  • Our class rules are
  • Be respectful and responsible.
  • Be organized and follow directions.
  • Be on time.
  • Be prepared.

Homework
  • I will assign about 20 minutes of homework every
    night except for Friday nights. 100 book
    challenge will also be assigned for each night.
  • Each student will have a bee book. There are
    pockets in each Bee book that be used for
    communication between parents and the teacher.
    Please check your childs BEE BOOK everyday.
  • A news letter will go home every Monday or
    Tuesday along with a calendar for homework
    assignments.
  • Homework will be checked daily.

Tardiness
  • School starts at 750 A.M.
  • If students are not in the classroom by the time
    the second bell rings, please check in at the
    school office before coming to class. The office
    will be writing tardy slips for students who come
    in late. Students will need a slip for class.
  • PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR CHILD IS ON TIME!!

Field Trips
  • We have lots of fun field trips planned for this
    year!
  • We will attend the Circus in February.
  • We will attend at least one to two more field
    trips during the year. Those will be discussed at
    a future date.
