University, College, Business
  • No matter what your intentions are after school,
whether it be university or working in a family
business, at some point your GCSEs will be the
    key that unlock future education.
  • This might be A Levels and a degree or it might
be a course which you need to access through work

No automatic entry to University
  • In 2007 120,000 university applicants failed to

applicants failed to get a place.

Getting onto A Level courses.
  • The vast majority of colleges and sixth forms
    require a minimum of 5 GCSEs grades A C,
    including Maths and English.
  • Most colleges and sixth forms also ideally expect
a Grade B or above in the subjects chosen at A
    level.

6
What do my GCSE grades mean?
  • They are a measure of your achievement at UK
secondary or high school level.  Also, they
assess your ability to progress to A Level or an
    equivalent standard.
  • Some universities specify minimum grades in
certain subjects as part of their entrance
    requirements.
  • Later on, some companies will only consider your
application if you have achieved specific grades
    in particular subjects.
