Principle pump system and Inlet operation

Basic Internal Operation
Rotary pumps 1 and 2 have now been replaced with
a single dry pump. This in conjunction with the
Turbo pump provides the instrument with high
vacuum (10-6 mbar) in the analyser chamber. Once
High Vacuum has been achieved (within 10 mins)
then sample drawn at lt 20ml/min can be injected
into the HV chamber and analysed by the QMS. It
takes approximately 60ms for the sample to travel
down the flexible capillary into the machine and
a further 10ms to analyse a single gas species.
A maximum of 20 different gas species may be
selected by the MediSys software. The system also
has the capability of scan and identify unknowns.
