Olympics
  • The Ancient Greeks invented the OLYMPIC GAMES.
    They were held in honour of the Gods. The most
    famous games were held in Olympia, South West of
    Greece. The Olympics first started in700BC.Women
    were not allowed to join the Olympics let alone
    watch them. The Olympics were every four years.
    They lasted five days. The first day was
    sacrifice they killed many things. They involved
    a lot of blood.

People
  • The Greeks divided everything into two halves,
    because every thing had halves they had wars. So
    they fought all the time. They even divided the
    People from the Animals because the Animals ate
    raw food and People ate cooked food. They divided
    the Gods from the People because people died and
    Gods didn't. People ate and Gods did not.

School
  • School was different than it is now, a lot
    different. It was different because Boys went to
    school and Girls didn't .So the Girls just stayed
    at home with their families or learnt at home. In
    Sparta reading and writing was unimportant. Boys
    learned to be good fighters.

Gods
  • Its hard to say how many Gods there were, Greeks
    believed in so many. These people were called
    Polytheistic,pronoced pa-lee-thee-is-tick. The
    most famous gods were Zeus, Hera, Apollo,
    Artemus, Poseidon, Athena, Deme-ter, Hermas,and a
    couple more. The ancient Greeks believed that in
    every town their was a big rock and in that rock
    there was a God. They had to worship that God or
    it would get angry.

Art
  • Greek art was normally poetry, architecture,
    sculpture and paintings. Architecture was in
    houses, temples, tombs and on city walls. It was
    also in theatres, stadias and stoas. Sculptures
    were mini or life size and were on sides of
    buildings and tombstones.

Weddings
  • The wedding was arranged by the parents of the
    bride and groom. The girls married between the
    ages 14-18 and the boys married in there 20s or
    30s. When the wedding had finished a Spartan man
    would toss his wife over his shoulder to show his
    superior strength. On the way to the wedding an
    Athens women would eat an apple to show her
    husband would give everything.
