Desiring To Go To Heaven

• Because of the wonderful company there
• Too materialistic a view is dangerous (2 Cor.
  52-4)
• Notice the purpose of the mansion (John 141-4)
• Surrounded by a great company (Heb. 122-4)
• Its God, the angels, and the best people this
  world has ever had to offer! (Heb. 1138)

• Because of the activities engaged there
• Very little revealed about the activity in
  Heaven
• John describes the throne room of God as a place
  of song worship (Rev. 48-11 59-14)
• Question If we cant enjoy and long for this
  activity now, what makes us think well enjoy
  Heaven?

• Because of the negative that is absent there
• Creation subjected to futility in HOPE (Rom
  820-22)
• Troubles of daily life removed (Rev. 715-17)
• The New Jerusalem (Rev. 213-4)
• Should be a source of encouragement and a
  motivation to keep pressing forward!

• Because to me, Hell is not an option!
• Only two options Eternity in Heaven or Hell
• Suffering, pain, torment (Mk 943-48, Lk
  1623-25)
• Surrounded by worst company (Mt 2541, Rev 218)
• God is not there! The worst punishment! (2 Ths
  19)
• The punishment is eternal (Rev 2010 2 Thess
  19)

The Impact Of This Hope

• Means we will live like we belong there!
• Heaven is the result of someone choosing to go
  there! It will not be a big surprise!
• There must be a resolution about it! (Acts
  1123)
• Must never make dumb choices that would
  jeopardize Heaven (Heb. 121-2)
• Demands self-discipline (I Cor. 927)

The Impact Of This Hope

• Puts experiences here in perspective
• Troubles pale in comparison to the glories that
  will follow in Heaven (Rom. 817-18 Mark 836)
• Its easy to get so wrapped up in the temporal
  that we lose sight of the eternal! (Ecc.
  210-11)
• Does your life reflect a great yearning to go to
  Heaven? Choices? Priorities? Sin?

• Why do you want to go to Heaven? Is it real?
• The company there, the activity there, the
  absence of negative things, staying away from
  Hell
• Heaven should mean everything to us! In the
  end, if we lose Heaven, weve lost it all!
• Spiritual Inventory Do I live like I desire
  it?
• What if Christ returned right now where would
  you spend your eternity?
