Linux.gp Upgrades Schedule

• 6/18/07 Upgrade 2 (of 5) Machines
• 9/3/07 Upgrade 2 more machines
• 12/17/07 Upgrade final machine

Linux.gp Upgrades DNS Support

• Currently linux.gp will choose one of the 5
  machines (Round Robin).
• On 6/18/07 linux.gp will choose one of the new
  FC5 machines.
• Use linux-rh9.gp to explicitly get one of the old
  RH9 machines.
• linux-fc5.gp will also work.

Linux.gp Upgrade Issues

• Transition period needed to allow Users to
  migrate work.
• No ftp under FC5
• Use scp or sftp
• No exmh support
• mh Users need to migrate to a new mail client
• ssh Version 2 of the protocol is the default
• v1 is supported
• 64-bit versus 32-bit

• gcc
• 4.1 under FC5, 3.2.2 under RH9
• python
• 2.4 under FC5, 2.2 and 2.4 under RH9
• perl
• 5.8.8 and 5.8.7 under FC5, 5.6.1 and 5.8.5 under
  RH9
• Matlab
• 7.3 under FC5, 7.1 under RH9

• /tmp space increased
• Memory increased to 4GB from 2GB
• AFS cache space increased
