Pleasure Principle

• Defined as, Freuds psychoanalytic theory
  governed by the motivation of the Id, an inborn
  tendency to avoid all pain and seek only pleasure
  by the immediate reduction of tension and
  obtaining instant gratification.

• His patient suffered amnesia due to a tumor
  removal from the frontal lobe
• He had no recollection of the surgery even after
  12 consecutive days of 50-minute visits with
  Fotopoulou
• Confabulated (i.e. who the doctor was, why he had
  a scar on his head)
• Author claimed the confabulations were of wishful
  thinking and generated by the Pleasure Principle
