41. Royal University of Phnom Penh
- RUPP began as the Royal Khmer University on
January 13, 1960 - 1970 The Royal Khmer University became the
Phnom Penh University - and there were nine faculties
- 1975-1979, during the Khmer Rouge regime, the
campus was closed - 1980, It was reopened again. Teaching
predominantly in French. In 1981, - the Institute of Foreign Language (IFL)
began. - 1988, the college and the IFL merged to create
Phnom Penh University - in 1996 the name was changed to the Royal
University of Phnom Penh. - At present, RUPP is the oldest and largest
institution of higher - education in Cambodia over 8,000 students
across 3 campuses, - 275 teachers.
