Review process
  • Gathered feedback from staff through the
    following
  • sources
  • - on-line survey to all staff
  • - focus group meetings (eg Staff Development
    Group, HR Business Partners)
  • - telephone calls to a number of staff from
    each School/Department
  • - communications from individual members of
    staff
  • - discussions with Senior Management
  • Outcomes of the review discussed by Senior
    Management
  • Changes to the scheme agreed and implemented

  • Completion date for appraisals has changed from
  • 30th September to 31st October
  • Appraisals to be carried out between August and
    October
  • (wherever possible)
  • Submission of paperwork to HR by the end of
    November
  • Additional Appraisal Workshops and Briefing
    Sessions are
  • being offered during April to July.

  • Part A Key Responsibilities/Objectives
  • Form now includes RATE headings for Academic
    Staff.
  • - Academic Staff appraisees to consider
    their performance/achievement against their key
    responsibilities using the RATE headings
    (Research and Knowledge Transfer
    Administration, Management Academic
    Leadership Teaching and Course Development
    External and Professional Contribution).

    individual objectives.

  • All staff are required to make an assessment
    of
  • how well they have achieved each key
    responsibility/
  • objective using the rating system provided
    no longer
  • optional. (Can either complete the Rating
    column before
  • the appraisal meeting or make a note of it,
    depending on
  • agreed approach with appraiser.)

  • Part B Core Competencies
  • Staff are required to consider how they have
  • demonstrated the core competencies (where
    relevant to
  • role) and to make an assessment of how well
    they have
  • demonstrated them using the rating system
    provided.
  • (Can either complete the Rating column
    before the
  • appraisal meeting or make a note of it,
    depending on
  • agreed approach with appraiser.)

    only)
  • An additional section for details of peer
    review and
  • articles/books published has been included.

  • - Summary of Appraisal Discussion - to be
    completed by the appraiser (eg key points
    discussed any points that need to be actioned
    either by the appraiser/appraisee)
  • - Appraisees comments for the appraisee to
    record their comments/feedback if there are
    any differences of opinion over the assessment,
    ratings, etc.

  • changed to RATE and Competency Frameworks

    criteria).
  • Core behaviours have been taken out.
