Kappa Delta Flag Football Tournament

Shamrock Event

• Since 1981 Kappa Delta has supported PCA (
  Prevention of Child abuse in America)
• Kappa Delta throws an annual flag football
  tournament to raise money for PCA.
• A team from our FYE class participated in the
  tournament.

The Hurricanes

• Our team captain was Corey Hicks
• Jonathan Johnson, Brian Barrett, Jesus Garcia,
  Reggie, Ronnie Iglinski, Corey Hicks, Michael
  Rakestraw made up the team.

Game 1

• The first game was against Sigma Nu.
• We played hard but lost the game 35-6
• It was a double elimination tournament so we
  would get to play the next day

Game 2

• Saturday April 29 we played the Weekend warriors.
• We were determined to bounce back from our loss
  Friday

• We beat the weekend warriors in time or
  possession.
• We held the ball for 45 minutes but lost in the
  end

The Experience

• It was disappointing to lose both games
• I felt good that I participated in an event that
  helps fight child abuse.

The Experience cont.

• Annual tournaments have been going on since 1984
• The Shamrock event has collected over 7 million
  dollars and has donated nearly 1.5 million to PCA.

Last Semesters Community Service

• Victory for Victoria
• Present for children
• I bought a little girl a blue, pink sweater as a
  Christmas gift.
• This counted as community service hours going to
  a charity that gives gifts to orphaned children.

Victory for Victoria

• Victoria was a little girl who lived in Valdosta
  who was very sick
• She had tumors that had spread all the way to her
  brain
• I did a ghost run, donating 20 to her foundation
  Victory for Victoria
• The money went to her family and foundation

Community Service Recap

• Community service has its rewards.
• I felt really good helping out with Victory for
  Victoria and participating in the Shamrock
  Tournament.
• I got the community service hours necessary to
  complete Freshmen year Experience, and
  contributed to some wonderful organizations doing
  it.
