    Patuakhali, Pirojpur, Jhalokati and Bhola)

Public Health Relief Initiative by DGHS
  • Number of deployed Doctors 599
  • Number of Medical teams 691
  • Number of supervisory Physicians 23
  • Total 691 Medical Teams (consists of Doctors,
    Medical Assistants and Paramedics) are in the
    field.
  • Till 20 November 07 total 150 Physicians were
    sent to Filed on deputation.
  • More 150 Physicians are under process for
    deputation.
  • 24/7 control room functional Central, District
    UZ level

Public Health Relief Initiative by DGHS
  • In-Service Training doctors to support health
    service in the affected areas.
  • Directors, Deputy Directors and Assistant
    directors are deployed to ensure efficient
    management of health services.
  • Regular coordination with Armed Forces, MoFDM
    other Ministries
  • Vacant posts of Professors, Associate Professors,
    Assistant Professors and Senior Consultants are
    filled up in the Medical Colleges of affected
    areas.
  • Emergency life-saving drugs have been supplied.
  • DGHS requested to WHO, UNICEF, UNFP, Ministry of
    Foreign Affairs, Disaster Management Bureau and
    EDCL to supply emergency medicines.
  • WHO and UNICEF have already supplied some of the
    life-saving medicines.

  • Water quality assurance, Sanitation, Human waste
    disposal in coordination with other partners

  • Replenishment of buffer stock and medical
    equipment and reconstruction of damaged health
    facilities

Activities in the affected areas
  • Supplied 300,000 mosquito nets for Malaria
    control
  • WHO deployed 6 Coordinators and a Consultant to
    prepare an immediate Need Assessment and support
    surveillance and other public health supports
  • Public Health Institute (IPH) is instructed to
    produce sufficient IV Fluid
  • Health Education Bureau is directed to build
    awareness among the affected population with
    technical support from WHO
