Title: Water Quality of the Wappingers Creek Using Chemical Analysis

1
Water Quality of the Wappingers Creek Using
Chemical Analysis
  • By Christian Craigg, Eric Vokes, Natasha Royce,
    and Kristie Bassett

2
Hypothesis
  • Hypothesis If we test the river then we can
assess how healthy the river is for the fish
because the fish have a optimal range for pH, DO,
    nitrate, phosphate, and temp.
  • Testing the river gives us a good idea of how the
    fish will react and survive.

3
Phosphates
Optimal level 0.03 0.1 ppms
4
Nitrates
Optimal levels no higher than 1 ppms
5
Temperature
Optimum levels 6 - 13
6
pH
Optimal levels 6.5 7.5
7
Dissolved Oxygen
Optimum levels 7 12 ppms

Conclusion
  • The majority of the variables are positive and
fit within the optimal range of the fish.
  • The pH and temperature are too high.
  • The over all chemical testing of the river is
    good for the fish.
  • This experience has helped us understand our
surrounding environments. We liked having the
fish inside the classroom because it helped us
    understand there movements and patterns.
