DAHNO and Lotus Notes/Domino
4DAHNO Lotus Notes/DominoWhy IBM Lotus?
- IBM Lotus Notes/Domino is a client-server
collaborative software and e-mail system owned by
Lotus Software, of the IBM Software Group. - There are more than 125 million users of Lotus
Notes worldwide. - Software not dated - IBM has committed itself to
implementing many more future releases of the
product (DAHNO runs on release 6.5.1 and release
7 is already available, with releases 8,9 10 on
the way)
5DAHNO Lotus Notes/Domino2 Important Features
of the Software
- Two important features of Notes/Domino are
- (i) Replication
- (ii) Security
6DAHNO Lotus Notes/DominoReplication (Remote
Synching)
- Replication allows hospitals to work with an
application locally (i.e. not subject to bad
network response times/loss of network) and
without any compromise in security - Local databases contain data only pertinent to
hospital so performance not affected by large
volumes of data not applicable to the hospital
itself
7DAHNO Lotus Notes/DominoSecurity
- Very Advanced Security Features
- Military grade encryption
- Not subject to Microsoft Issues/or attacks
targeted to work in Microsoft environments/softwar
e!
8DAHNO Lotus Notes/DominoSome Possibilities
for the Future
- DAHNO reporting to be accessed via browser
(including graphical reporting) - DAHNO system processes/workflow (e.g. clinical
sign off) and reporting will utilise automated
emails - Key outputs supplied in the annual report will be
available directly from the system in real-time - Data quality/completeness will be vastly improved
