Title: Additional%20Secondary%20MAC%20Rules

1
Additional Secondary MAC Rules
  • These rules are in addition to what is currently
    in comments 386-391
  • Ringlet selection, on a given ringlet, uses
secondary MAC information that is contained in a
valid topology entry, and that is marked in use.
  • If new secondary MAC address information is
received and topology is valid, or when topology
    becomes valid
  • The new information is written into the topology
database and is marked not in use
  • Secondary MAC address validation is performed,
taking into account all secondary addresses
    (whether or not in use).
  • If validation passes, all secondary MAC addresses
within the reachable topology are marked in use.
  • If validation fails, there is no effect on
secondary MAC addresses in the topology database.

Additional Secondary MAC Rules
  • When topology becomes unstable or invalid
  • No effect on secondary MAC addresses in the
    topology database.
  • If new secondary MAC address information is
received and topology is not valid
  • New secondary MAC address information is added to
database, and is marked not in use.
  • When TP frame is received that duplicates a
secondary MAC address of the local station
  • The duplicated secondary MAC address is marked
    not in use.
  • When a valid topology database entry becomes
invalid or when the station MAC address in a
    valid entry is rewritten
  • All ATD information is cleared from that entry.
This is needed because a new topology can be
discovered well within a single ATD timer period.
