logistics within the entire area of the Alliance - The project aims at creating specific roles for
the regions and municipalities participating in
the project in order to enable them to strengthen
and develop the logistic services within the
project area in a way that benefits the entire
area of South Finland. - The project develops innovative ICT solutions for
small and medium size logistics enterprises.

13Vitality through Regional Logistics
- The project aims at increasing the vitality of
the regions located outside the city centres by
means of logistics. - The project is based on combining freight
transportation with passenger transportation, a
concept that establishes the preconditions for
the production of services as well as the
activities of farms and SMEs. - The project enables public transportation to be
organised for all citizens in an effective and
inexpensive way.

15Development of a logistics chain for small volume
food products with temperature requirements
- The project will look into alternative ordering
systems and logistics solutions in order for food
suppliers to gain access to the market in the
Helsinki region. - The project aims at finding logistic models for
small volume food products with temperature
requirements. - Regional delivery centres will be created in the
participating areas, from where the products will
be transported to the Helsinki region. - The project will find suitable solutions for each
area and the operations will be tested by means
of pilot projects. - The project will support the Local Food concept
by incorporating environmental issues into the
project.

19Developing energy efficiency in public buildings
by means of an environmental portal and
benchmarking services
- The project will implement open follow-up,
reporting and benchmarking services based on the
Internet and a data warehouse concept. - The aim of the project is to create a portal via
which it is possible to obtain real-time
information on the energy and water consumption
in municipal and other public buildings as well
as information on the development of energy
consumption in the long run. - The effects of climate policy and energy saving
measures can be assessed in a reliable way.
Furthermore, the motivation of local actors will
be improved, and at the same time, know-how, new
technology, and optimal practices can be
disseminated in the entire area of the Alliance.
