Run 2 Upgrade Meeting August 13, 2003
P. Bhat
  • Agenda
  • July Status Update (Ken/Dean)
  • Reviews update (Pushpa)
  • List and discuss pre-shutdown studies and
    shutdown activities (All)
  • All upgrade-related studies to be done before
    September shutdown
  • All shutdown activities
  • readiness
  • Resources dedicated? shared?
  • Overlaps, conflicts with other work

2
Reviews Update
  • Tuesday, August 26 - Helix/separators review
  • helix step-wise plan review
  • Committee H. Edwards (chair), Jerry Annala
  • Others suggested Dave Finley, someone from
    TD
  • 2nd part late September/early October?
  • Thursday, August 28 (?) - Slip-stacking
  • Committee Jim Steimel, Brian Chase, Claudio
    Rivetta
  • Tuesday, September 30 -Wire/BBC

    Koutchouk/Zimmermann (CERN), TD-rep?
  • Thursday, October 2 - 2.5 MHz acceleration

Project Status
  • Slip-stacking

(No Transcript)
5
  • Discussion To do items by Oct 8 DOE
    mini-review (8 weeks left!)
  • (1) Shutdown plan
  • Be doing
  • Recycler vacuum
  • Sergei not present Seems to be no issues
  • Tev stands, align, vacuum, helix
  • Work to proceed as planned. Vladimir presented a
table of planned tasks (see attached)
  • AP2 align and movable quad stands
  • Keith expressed concern over availability of
    surveyors for AP2 work
  • MI dampers
  • No anticipated problems
  • various e-cool at Recycler
  • No one to report
  • Plan for startup and commissioning
  • Paul Derwent expressed concern over study time
for proton stacking studies that they would like
to perform at the startup. This means change in
the polarity of the magnets in the AP2 line,
Debuncher, D/A line, and the Accumulator.  These
studies of proton stacking, which is higher flux
than pbar stacking, and forward 8 GeV protons
through AP2 and Debuncher, will be combined.
The high flux enables comparison of measurements
to simulations and calculations of cooling system
    behavior.

Other reviews in the near-future Early Oct IPM
Oct did we do Recycler vacuum and MI dampers
in shutdown (7), (8) Oct 1 technical review of
Tevatron BPM system (10) Oct 1 define
performance parameters for the Recycler (9)
