Before going into that, lets take a good look
at the spiritual condition of the Hebrews
reading this letter.

511-14 - was designated by God to be high
priest in the order of Mel-chizedek. Concerning
him we have much to say, and it is hard to
explain, since you have become dull of hear-ing.
For though by this time you ought to be teachers,
you have need again for someone to teach you the
elementary principles of the oracles of God, and
you have come to need milk and not solid food.
For everyone who partakes only of milk is not
ac-customed to the word of righteous-ness, for he
is an infant. But solid food is for the mature,
who because of practice have their senses trained
to discern good and evil.
511-14 - was designated by God to be high

have understood and been able to teach

REPENTANCE FROM DEAD WORKS
The works of the Law all were fulfilled in Jesus
and then set aside, no longer of any use / power
toward God. When a Jew puts on Christ, he must
turn away from (repent of) those dead, useless
works and seek the righteousness that is based on
faith in Jesus

FAITH TOWARD GOD
Faith always was required but the Law was not
based on faith it was based on keeping the
laws. The Old Law never was capable of making
men righteous that error came from the Jews
misunderstanding of the Laws purpose.
16 The promises were spoken to Abraham and to his
seed. The Scripture does not say "and to seeds,"
meaning many people, but "and to your seed,"
meaning one person, who is Christ. 17 What I

on the Law

The Law was given to identify control sin in
Israel until Abrahams Seed came

Life could not come by the Law
The whole world was under sinthe promise of life
thru Abrahams Seed, was to come to all men by
faith in Jesus, not by the Law

The Law made us prisoners to sin to its penalty
of death
23 Before this faith came, we were held
pri-soners by the law, locked up until faith
should be revealed. 24 So the law was put in
charge to lead us to Christ that we might be
justified by faith. 25 Now that faith has come we
are no longer under the supervision of the law.
26 You are all sons of God through faith in
Christ Jesus, 27 for all of you who were baptized
into Christ have clothed your-selves with Christ.
28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor
free, male nor female, for you are all one in
Christ Jesus. 29 If you belong to Christ, then
you are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to
the promise.
It was given to lead us to justification thru
Jesus, Abrahams Seed
All who have faith in Jesus are sons of God,
heirs of Abrahams promisewhether a Jew or
gentile makes no difference

WASHINGS / BAPTISMS
Most likely refers to the ritual washings of the
O. C. as symbolic of the cleansing
purification that would come under the New C.
Examples Ex. 3018-19 Lev. 164 Num. 1919
Heb. 1022
Ex 3018-21 - Make a bronze basin, with its
bronze stand, for washing. Place it between the
Tent of Meeting and the altar, and put water in
it. Aaron and his sons are to wash their hands
and feet with water from it. Whenever they enter
the Tent of Meeting, they shall wash with water
so that they will not die. Also, when they
approach the altar to minister by presenting an
offering made to the Lord by fire, they shall
wash their hands and feet so that they will not
die.
Lev 163-4 - This is how Aaron is to enter the
sanctuary area with a young bull for a sin
offering and a ram for a burnt offering. He is
to put on the sacred linen tunic, with linen
undergarments next to his body he is to tie the
linen sash around him and put on the linen
tur-ban. These are sacred garments so he must
bathe himself with water before he puts them on.

Num 1919-21 - The man who is clean is to
sprinkle the unclean person on the third and
seventh days, and on the seventh day he is to
purify him. The person being cleansed must wash
his clothes and bathe with water, and that
evening he will be clean. But if a person who is
unclean does not purify himself, he must be cut
off from the community, because he has defiled
the sanctuary of the Lord. The water of cleansing
has not been sprinkled on him, and he is unclean.
Heb 1022-23 - let us draw near to God with a
sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having
our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty
conscience and having our bodies washed with pure
water.
1 Pet 321 - this water symbolizes baptism that
now saves you also-not the removal of dirt from
the body but the pledge of a good con-science
toward God. It saves you by the resurrection of
Jesus Christ,

Lev. 1620-22 associated with the Day of
Atonement ritual
"When he finishes atoning for the holy place and
the tent of meeting and the altar, he shall offer
the live goat. "Then Aaron shall lay both of his
hands on the head of the live goat, and confess
over it all the iniquities of the sons of Israel
and all their transgressions in regard to all
their sins and he shall lay them on the head of
the goat and send it away into the wilderness by
the hand of a man who stands in readiness. "The
goat shall bear on itself all their iniquities to
a solitary land and he shall release the goat in
the wilderness.
The nations sins transferred to the scape goat
by the high priests hands, allowing Israel to
escape the penalty of death.

Lev. 12-4 part of ritual when offering animal
sacrifices
When any of you brings an offering to the Lord,
bring as your offering an animal from either the
herd or the flock. If the offering is a burnt
offering from the herd, he is to offer a male
without defect. He must present it at the
entrance to the Tent of Meeting so that it will
be accep-table to the Lord. He is to lay his hand
on the head of the burnt offer-ing, and it will
be accepted on his behalf to make atonement for
him.

a blasphemer
Take the blasphemer outside the camp. All those
who heard him are to lay their hands on his head,
and the entire assembly is to stone him. Say to
the Israelites If anyone curses his God, he
will be held respon-sible anyone who blasphemes
the name of the Lord must be put to death. The
entire assembly must stone him. Whether an alien
or native -born, when he blasphemes the Name, he
must be put to death.
The witnesses testified to his sin and its harsh
penalty by laying their hands on his head

Num 86-14 - when tribe of Levi was dedicated to
God
Take the Levites from among the other Israelites
and make them ceremonially clean. To purify
them, do this sprinkle the water of cleansing on
them then have them shave their whole bodies and
wash their clothes, and so purify themselves.
Have them take a young bull with its grain
offering of fine flour mixed with oil then you
are to take a second young bull for a sin
offering. Bring the Levites to the front of the
Tent of Meeting and assemble the whole Israelite
community. You are to bring the Levites before
the Lord, and the Israelites are to lay their
hands on them. Aaron is to present the Levites
before the Lord as a wave offering from the
Israelites, so that they may be ready to do the
work of the Lord. After the Levites lay their
hands on the heads of the bulls, use the one for
a sin offering to the Lord and the other for a
burnt offering, to make atonement for the
Levites. Have the Levites stand in front of
Aaron and his sons and then present them as a
wave offer-ing to the Lord. In this way you are
to set the Levites apart from the other
Israelites, and the Levites will be mine.

RESURRECTION OF THE DEAD
As taught and typified in the O.T. was

will crush kings on the day of his wrath. He will
judge the nations, heaping up the dead and
crushing the rulers of the whole earth. He will
drink from a brook beside the way therefore he
will lift up his head.

gift and have been made partakers of the Holy
Spirit, and have tasted the good word of God and
the powers of the age to come, and then have
fallen away, it is impossible to renew them again
to repentance, since they again crucify to
themselves the Son of God, and put Him to open
shame. For ground that drinks the rain which
often falls upon it and brings forth vegetation
useful to those for whose sake it is also tilled,
receives a blessing from God but if it yields
thorns and this-tles, it is worthless and close
to being cursed, and it ends up being burned.

If you experience the nature of the New Covenant
and its blessings, and then set it aside as
worthless to youthere is no Plan Bno other
sacrifice, no other appeal to make to you to
repent. It is equal to openly crucifying Jesus
again, since you declare publicly that He isnt
worthy of your dedication.
This is where you are headed!

better things concerning you, and things that
accompany salvation, though we are speaking in
this way. For God is not unjust so as to forget
your work and the love which you have shown
toward His name, in having ministered and in
still ministering to the saints. And we desire
that each one of you show the same diligence so
as to realize the full assurance of hope until
the end, so that you will not be sluggish, but
imitators of those who through faith and patience
inherit the promises.
69-12 - But, beloved, we are con-vinced of

Thats how strongly God wanted to convince Abraham

Our hope in those 2 things is what anchors our
souls anchored in the very presence of God.
