- The uniting of Jews with Gentiles through Messiah
- The Traditional Jewish wedding is a reflection of
Scripture. We will see that Jesus, Yeshua uses
the same symbolism through out the New Testament.
- This is why Hebraic roots are so important to
understanding the fullness of our relationship
with Yeshua and fullness of Gods covenant
relationship with Israel.
4"Kabbalat Panim
The chatan and kallah greet guests separately.
This is called "Kabbalat Panim. The Groom is
treated as a King and the Bride as Queen
Groom is the Chatan Bride is the Kallah
5Bedekken - Veiling The pre-ceremony ritual is
the veiling of the Kallah (Bride). The Chatan
(Groom) lowers the veil over the Kallah's face.
6Processional of the Groom, the Chatan Groom is
escorted by both his father and mother
Blowing of the Shofar Baruch Haba Bashem Adonai
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.
7kallah circles the chatan seven times
Under the chuppah, the kallah circles the chatan
seven times. Just as the world was built in seven
days, the kallah is figuratively building the
walls of the couple's new world together. The
number seven also symbolizes the wholeness and
completeness that they cannot attain separately
8Blessings of Betrothal (Kiddushin- Santification)
Under the Chupah there is a first blessing over
Wine. Then a gift of value or ring is given from
the groom to bride. Vows are said.
The Chatan/Groom giving a Ring to the
Kallah/Bride seals the marriage. Only the Groom
gives the bride a a ring at this point.
9We stand today, under a chupa., a reminder of the
covering that HaShem has over us. Solomon writes,
"His banner over us is love." Tonight, that love
is displayed in its fullest glory. The chupa is a
representation of a tallit, a 4-cornered prayer
shawl. Upon each of the corners, are found
tzitzi, fringes that the Bible tells us are to
remind us of G-ds commandments. The Rabbis teach
us that HaShem, Himself wears a tallit we are
the fringes which remind Him of His covenant with
us.
Ruth 38-9 "In the middle of the night something
startled the man, and he turned and discovered a
woman lying at his feet. 'Who are you?' he asked.
'I am your servant, Ruth,' she said. 'Spread the
corner (Tzitzit) of your garment (Tallit) over
me, since you are a kinsman redeemer'". Boaz was
putting his Authority over her, he made the
commitment to marry her with this act. He then
became her kinsman redeemer. The chupah in a
wedding Is the representation of this

11Nissuin ("marriage").is the Wedding Portion. The
Seven Blessings The Seven Blessings (Sheva
Brachot) are now recited over the second cup of
wine. The theme of these blessings links the
chatan and kallah to our faith in God as Creator
of the world, Bestower of joy and love, and the
ultimate Redeemer of our people.
12The Breaking of the Glass - A Traditional end to
a Jewish wedding serves as a reminder of the
fragility of life, even during the most joyous of
celebrations. Life is fragile. It also serves a
reminder that we wait place our concern for
Jerusalem and the destroyed Temple awaiting for
the Gods Kingdom to come to earth.
13Yichud The couple are escorted to a private room
and left alone for a few minutes. These moments
of seclusion signify their new status of living
together as husband and wife.
14Kabbolas Panim -- the Reception
The Festive Meal (Seudah) It is a mitzvah for
guests to bring simchah (joy) to the chatan and
the kallah on their wedding day. There is much
music and dancing as the guests celebrate with
the new couple

16- 1. The uniting of husband and wife in marriage as
one flesh is a gift of God through Gods Spirit.
We need to appreciate marriage as a holy
relationship of husband, wife and God and not as
a secular or legal relationship. - God wants us to respect marriage as a holy gift
of God as two become one flesh through Gods Holy
Spirit. Marriage should bring complete unity or
Echad to the couple as they grow into one flesh.
17Genesis 218 The Lord God said, It is not good
for the man to be alone. I will make a helper
suitable for him. Genesis 223-24 The man
said, This is now bone of my bones and flesh of
my flesh she shall be called woman, for she
was taken out of man. For this reason a man will
leave his father and mother and be united to his
wife, and they will become one flesh. Ephesians
528-33 In this same way, husbands ought to love
their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his
wife loves himself. After all, no one ever hated
his own body, but he feeds and cares for it.
182. The marriage covenant of Israel to God as the
Wife of Yahweh. God married Israel on Mt. Sinai
through the gift of the Mosaic Torah and Israels
decision to obey Gods commandments. Because
Israel did not always obey Gods law, God gave
Israel the substitutionary system of animal
sacrifice and the Day of Atonement. These gifts
were to teach Israel and humankind them
importance of the need for repentance and blood
atonement for the washing our sins clean. This
is why the color White is important in the
marriage ceremony as it reveals our spiritual
cleanliness due to forgiveness of sins.
19Exodus 344-7 So Moses chiseled out two stone
tablets like the first ones and went up Mount
Sinai early in the morning, as the Lord had
commanded him and he carried the two stone
tablets in his hands. Then the Lord came down
in the cloud and stood there with him and
proclaimed his name, the Lord. And he passed in
front of Moses, proclaiming, The Lord, the Lord,
the compassionate and gracious God, slow to
anger, abounding in love and faithfulness,
maintaining love to thousands, and forgiving
wickedness, rebellion and sin. Yet he does not
leave the guilty unpunished he punishes the
children and their children for the sin of the
fathers to the third and fourth generation.
202. The marriage covenant of Israel to God as the
Wife of Yahweh. God married Israel on Mt. Sinai
through the gift of the Mosaic Torah and Israels
decision to obey Gods commandments. Israels
disobedience to God and their worship of other
gods was considered by God as adultery. He
would write Israel a spiritual writ of divorce.
God also gave Israel a prophetic commitment
to restore His relationship to Israel in a new
covenant marriage.
21Exodus 191-19 And Moses went up to God and the
Lord called unto him from the mountain, and said
tell the children of Israel You have seen what
I have done to the Egyptians, how I have carried
you upon the wings of eagles, and have taken you
to myself. If therefore you will hear my voice,
and keep my covenant, you shall be my peculiar
possession above all people for all the earth is
mine. And you shall be to me a priestly kingdom,
and a holy nation.
Jeremiah 38-9 I gave faithless Israel her
certificate of divorce and sent her away because
of all her adulteries. Yet I saw that her
unfaithful sister Judah had no fear she also
went out and committed adultery. Because
Israels immorality mattered so little to her,
she defiled the land and committed adultery with
stone and wood.
222. The marriage covenant of Israel to God as the
Wife of Yahweh. Jeremiah 312-14 Go, proclaim
this message toward the north Return,
faithless Israel, declares the Lord, I will
frown on you no longer, for I am merciful,
declares the Lord, I will not be angry forever.
Only acknowledge your guilt you have rebelled
against the Lord your God, you have scattered
your favors to foreign gods under every
spreading tree, and have not obeyed me,
declares the Lord. Return, faithless people,
declares the Lord, for I am your husband. I will
choose youone from a town and two from a
clanand bring you to Zion. Jeremiah 3132 -33
It will not be like the covenant I made with
their forefathers when I took them by the hand to
lead them out of Egypt, because they broke my
covenant, though I was a husband to them,
declares the LORD This is the covenant I will
make with the house of Israel after that time,
declares the Lord. I will put my law in their
minds and write it on their hearts. I will be
their God, and they will be my people.
233. The marriage covenant of Believers to Messiah
as the Bride of Messiah. In the Messianic or
New Covenant God gives His Son the Messiah to
Believers as their groom. The Jewish Wedding
ceremony symbolizes the New Covenant marriage of
Believers to the Jewish Messiah. As the
Gospels and Messianic writings reveal, when we
are betrothed to Messiah by faith in his atoning
sacrifice we are Born Again a new creature free
of condemnation of our sins.
243. The marriage covenant of Believers to Messiah
as the Bride of Messiah. In the Messianic or New
Covenant God gives His Son the Messiah to
Believers as their groom. Ephesians 531-32
For this reason a man will leave his father and
mother and be united to his wife and the two will
become one flesh. This is a profound mysterybut
I am talking about Christ (Messiah) and the
church (Synagogue of Believers). Colossians
122 But now he has reconciled you by Messiahs
physical body through death to present you holy
in his sight, without blemish and free from
accusation
253. The marriage covenant of Believers to Messiah
as the Bride of Messiah. In the Messianic or New
Covenant God gives His Son the Messiah to
Believers as their groom. 1 John 17 the blood
of Yeshua, his Son, purifies us from all sin.
Ephesians 113-14 And you also were included in
Christ when you heard the word of truth, the
gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you
were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy
Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our
inheritance until the redemption of those who are
Gods possessionto the praise of his glory.
264. The reconciliation between Israel and the
Gentiles through marriage to the Jewish Messiah
in faith. The New Covenant Marriage is
different from the Mosaic marriage because it
united Jew and Gentile as the bride of Messiah--
our Church body. Now the separation between Jew
and Gentile is eliminated as far as Gods
promises and covenants are concerned. Both Jew
and Gentile are united through the Holy Spirit
and their marriage to the Jewish Messiah.
Ephesians 36 This mystery is that through the
gospel the Gentiles are heirs together with
Israel, members together of one body, and sharers
together in the promise in Messiah Yeshua.
Ephesians 310 His intent was that now, through
the church, the manifold wisdom of God should be
made know.
274. The reconciliation between Israel and the
Gentiles through marriage to the Jewish Messiah
in faith. The story of Ruth was a type of the
Gentiles and Jewish peoples coming together in
marriage. In Ruth we learn that King Davids line
which would be the line of Jewish Messiah would
come from both the Gentiles and the Jews. Ruth
accepted Israel as her people as all Gentiles who
become Believers are now grafted into Israel
through their marriage to the Jewish Messiah!
Ruth 116-17 But Ruth replied, Dont urge me
to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you
go I will go, and where you stay I will stay.
Your people will be my people and your God my
God. Where you die I will die, and there I will
be buried. May the Lord deal with me, be it ever
so severely, if anything but death separates you
and me.
