  • ACES Overview
  • The Automated Client Eligibility System (ACES) is
the integrated eligibility system that supports
    Washington States public assistance programs,
including TANF, Basic Food, General Assistance
    and Medical Assistance.

5
  • ACES Background
  • The ACES application was transferred from
Connecticut in 1995 and put into production in
Washington in April 1996, and has been updated
    quarterly.
  • In 2001, at the request of the Information
Services Board a feasibility study was completed
that lead to the procurement of a new Maintenance
    and Operations contract.

6
  • Contract Extension
  • In 2003, the competitive procurement resulted in
contracted maintenance for a 6 year base period
expiring in 2009, with two optional 2 year
    extensions.
  • The Department plans to exercise both contract
    extensions.

7
  • Planning Activities
  • In 2013, after the full term of the current
contract, ACES will have been in production
within Washington State for 17 years.
  • The Department has initiated a process to
    identify opportunities, dependencies and risks
that will influence the future vision of ACES.

8
High Level Timeline
9
  • Next Steps
  • We expect the visioning / discovery activities to
identify options, and enable the Department to
    set a vision.
  • We will return to provide an update on our
    progress, in early 2009.
