We use Future Simple

• In predictions
• Im afraid he will not be on time
• The weather will be nice tomorrow
• For on-the-spot decisions
• Ill take tomato soup,

• For promises
• Ill do it tomorrow

We use going to

• For plans or ambitions
• Im going to buy her a hat for a present
• Im going to become a doctor
• He is going to tell her tomorow
• For predictions where you can see the evidence
• Look at the clouds! Its going to rain
• He doesnt learn at all. Hes going to fail the
  test

We use Present Continuous

• To talk of a future arrangement with
• somebody else
• Im having dinner at my mothers
• Bob is coming tomorrow
• We use Present Simple
• To talk of fixed dates or times on which we
• dont have any influence
• The train leaves at 5pm
• What time does the film start?

• To say that something will be finished at
• a certain moment in the future
• At this time tomorrow I will have read this book
• In two years time I will have moved to my new
  house
