Internet Governance Forum (IGF)

• A decision of the World Summit on Information
  Society
• Multi-stakeholder (Government, Industry, Civil
  Society)
• This multistakeholder conversation is significant
  progress!
• But To make it worthwhile, some objectives
  should either emerge from the process, or be
  injected into it!

Internet Quality Labels Proposal

• Origin of the idea Swiss Civil Society Meeting
  at the Internet Governance Symposium, Zürich,
  2006-07-07.
• Proposal of an international website
  accessibility certification mark as a Swiss
  contribution to the IGF.
• A good initial topic for international
  multistakeholder internet governance work,
  because the goal can be achieved only by
  combining civil society zeal, government
  influence and international coordination.

1st IGF in Athens(Oct 30-Nov 2, 2006)

• Presentation Accessibility Certification a
  Swiss Perspective and proposal for international
  coordination of Internet Quality Labels at the
  Equal Access on the Web worshop organized by
  W3C.
• The workshop was not well-attended.
• The IGF was an environment for multistakeholder
  conversations, but not a suitable environment for
  getting something going.

• The IGF process provides a framework that makes
  it possible for government people,
  internationally, to work together with us in a
  dynamic coalition.
• This opportunity should be used!

  needed!
