2Symposium on the Standard Cost Model and
Regulatory Impact Assessment  The European
Commission has chosen Regulatory Impact
Assessment (RIA) to strengthen the quality of the
regulatory process and identify costs and
benefits of future regulations. EU policy makers
believe that RIA will lead Europe back on the
Lisbon track. But does RIA live up to the
promise? Â Â In The Netherlands the emphasis is on
reducing administrative burdens. The Netherlands
were the first in Europe to develop a measurement
technique for administrative burdens the
Standard Cost Model (SCM). European countries
are now adopting this model and the European
Commission is preparing a policy to measure and
to reduce administrative burdens originating from
EU-legislation. Â Â The main theme of the
symposium is the relation between the SCM and
Regulatory Impact Assessment in the light of
future developments in Europe and the
Netherlands. The symposium will provide the
participants with state of the art knowledge on
impact assessment and the reduction of
administrative burdens. Â If you would like to
attend the symposium, please fill out the reply
form and send it to us. There is a symposium fee
of 50.
