Step 1 Use Spell Check
  • A tool within a word processing program used to

Step 2 Proofread Copy On The Screen (comparison
proofread)
  • Read the keyed document slower than usual
  • Check all numbers and spellings of questionable
    words with the original copy
  • Pay close attention to the first last few
    lines. Errors are overlooked there

Step 3 Proofread Printed Copy
  • Read the printed copy again to see of it makes
    sense
  • Look for formatting and alignment errors

Step 4 Proofread With A Partner
  • Difficult words and a lot of numbers should be
    read with a partner

  • Read every word for making sense
  • When in doubt, check the original copy
  • Always proofread before printing
