Advancement Definitions

• Pledge A donors promise to give (one time or in
  installments)
• Gift The 100 transfer of assets from the donor
  to OU with no strings attached
• Pledge Payment A 100 transfer of assets from
  the donor to OU with no strings attached
  applied to a previous pledge
• Outright Gift Same as gift but not a payment
  on a pledge.
• Commitment A pledge or an outright gift, not a
  payment on a pledge
• Soft Credit Credit / gift recognition for a gift
  from another entity (no gift receipt) automated
  soft credit
• Third Party Payments (TPPs) When someone makes
  a payment on another person/companys pledge.
