Research Triangle Park Selected to Host 2009
IASP World Conference and this dynamic meeting
destination is gearing up to provide a
world-class experience. RTP has been selected to
organize and host the 2009 World Conference of
the International Association of Science Parks
(IASP). For the first time in its 22-year
history, IASP will hold an independent,
international conference in the United States.
The year 2009 will mark the 50th anniversary of
the founding of RTP and the 25th anniversaries of
a number of Triangle-area knowledge assets,
including Centennial Campus at North Carolina
State University.

Over 5,000 view Photographers Installations in
Downtown Durham
Internationally acclaimed photographer George
Rousse makes approximately 30 installations a
year, and only a handful in America. We were
incredibly lucky he chose Downtown Durham as one
of his warehouse intervention projects. Konhaus,
Indieweek. 2006
The installations live on in large color
photographs exhibited in museums and galleries
worldwide and are included in the collections at
The Louvre, the Guggenheim Museum and the
Brooklyn Museum of Art.

• A grassroots arts project emerges that confounds
  expectations and takes the city of Durham, North
  Carolina by storm as buildings are transformed
  into temporary canvases. This project is witness
  to the energy that is unleashed when a remarkable
  photographer and an art-loving community join
  forces to create art and experience a city in new
  and unexpected ways.

Bending Space, a film based on this project,
will premiere in Paris this year, and will
coincide with a major museum show in the city of
lights. The show will almost certainly feature
several of the finished Durham prints as well.

Duke Art Collections and Exhibits
Rafael Viñoly recently completed the Kimmel
Center for the Performing Arts in Philadelphia
and the new home for Jazz at Lincoln Center in
New York. Viñoly's designs were also chosen for
expansion projects at the Cleveland Museum of
Art, the John F. Kennedy Center for the
Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., and the
Brooklyn Children's Museum. He also designed the
new Tampa Museum of Art. Other projects include
the design of the Tokyo International Forum and
the Leicester City Performing Arts Center in
England. Viñoly is a fellow of the American
Institute of Architects and a recipient of
numerous awards, including the AIA medal of honor.
