Fact 1
  • The Queensland Certificate of Education or QCE is
    a new senior secondary qualification
  • It is a school based qualification
  • The QCE is awarded to students at the completion
    of the senior phase of learning (usually at the
    end of Year 12)

  • The QCE offers flexibility in what is learnt
    as well as where and when the learning occurs

  • The QCE is awarded to students only if their
    senior studies represent
  • a significant amount of learning(20 credits)

  • QCEs awarded 31 200 (appprox)
    (74 approx)
  • Of approx 11 200 students who did not receive a
    QCE at exit from Year 12,
  • About 92 have not yet acquired 20 credits.
  • The rest had 20 credits or more but
  • did not meet completed Core requirements
  • Or
  • Did not meet literacy or numeracy requirement

Fiction 1
  • Every student will receive the QCE
  • No!
  • The student must
  • have a learning account opened with the
    Queensland Studies Authority (QSA)
  • complete 20 credits in contributing studies at
    the required standard and in a required pattern
    of learning
  • meet literacy and numeracy requirements.

  • Everything a student studies will contribute
    towards the QCE

  • Studies not recognised by the QSA do not
    contribute to the QCE

  • The OP is used to rank QLD. students for entrance
