Finding Information on Dissertations Testing
Instruments with the Education Research Guide

Use the Education Research Guide to begin
your search for dissertations. Select the
keywords from your thesis statement or null
hypothesis, and youre ready to go
Follow the links to Dissertation Abstracts to
begin your search

Dissertation Abstracts will allow you to
search for theses and dissertations written on
various topics all over the world. Enter your
keywords and click search

You wont be able to read these
dissertations online, but you can get a summary
of them by clicking on individual titles from
your search results
Click here for the abstract (or summary) of the
dissertation

The detailed record will display the
information you need to cite the dissertation.
The abstract will give you a summary of its
content.
Note Dissertations may be requested through
Interlibrary Loan, but often only one copy
exists, so many libraries wont loan them to us.
Some professors will allow you to cite the
abstract instead of the dissertation itself.

To find information on testing instruments,
go back to the Education Research Guide and
follow the links to the Mental Measurements
Yearbook (MMY)

The MMY search screen will allow you to type
in the name of the test (or keywords about the
test) into a search box

Choose an item from your MMY search results
and click the Complete Record button to display
information about the testing instrument.
Note The testing instruments themselves are
often only available for purchase and are not
available from the library. MMY will
give you the information about the instrument
that youll need for your research proposal.
