• Why should we build components?
• In the long-run component based design can keep
  development and support costs down
• Build and support one items for many uses
• Components can be re-used making problem solving
  quicker
• Ideally, multiple sites can benefit greatly
  increasing the scales of economy.
• Barriers
• Up-front investment cost
• Requires developing more flexibility that you
  might now use right now
• Getting the ball rolling
