Location
Mt. Stromboli is in Stromboli,Italy. Its part of
the Aeolian islands. Stromboli is north of
Sicily , a city in Italy. The latitude is 38.789
degrees north. The longitude is 152.13 degrees
east. Mt. Stromboli is also known as the light
house of the Mediterranean.

Eruptions
The past eruption of Mount Stromboli was May
21, 2006. When Mount Stromboil erupts it uses
short weak explosions Strombolian types of
volcanoes are more explosive. A Strombolian
eruption is also called a Vulcanian eruption

The largest eruption in the last hundred years
was in 1930. The eruption resulted in many deaths
and the destruction of many houses from flying
volcanic bombs. In 2002 no one but residents of
the islands were allowed to be there for months.
The eruption started with a lava flow along Scria
Del Fuco which quickly reached the sea. Rocks
collapsed causing landslides and tsunamis. On
April 5, 2003 an explosion from the summit, the
crater ejected rocks that destroyed some of the
Ginastro Village. This eruption lasted until July
2003.

Interesting Facts
Mt. Stromboli is a strato volcano. Its been
active since Roman. It is located in Stromboli,
Italy near a city named Sicily, on the Aeolian
Islands, in the Mediterranian Sea. The lava of
Strombolian volcanoes is very thick.
