• Water level control

• There are two types of industrial float switch
• Standard switch which is rated up to 13 amps
• Intrinsically safe float switch will only take a
  very low voltage control signal
• Both float switches look identical except for the
  marking on the base, the ATEX
• Intrinsically Safe switch will be stamped on the
  base with the IS

• Atex approved Water level control

• Atex float Max Input Parameters Ui 30V,
  Ii100mA 8v, 8mA dc minimum contact rating
• Type Atex ( Certificate SIRA 04ATEX2187) may be
  used in zones 1 and 2
• Temperature range 20C to 70C and should not be
  used outside this range
• Max. submerged depth 20 metres

• Water level control

• Standard switch which is rated up to 240v 15
  amps non inductive, 240v 10 amps inductive
• Maximum size of electrical motor that may be
  switched is 1.3 hp, 230 v, 50 hz
• Maximum water depth is 20m
• You may switch the power via the float switch,
  but the best and safest arrangement
• is to use a low voltage such as 12 to 24v ac or
  dc through the switch, and use a relay
• to switch the pump on / off. By this means
  large electrical motors / pumps may be controlled

• Economy switch has the same specification as the
  standard switch
• Rated up to 240v 15 amps non inductive, 240v 10
  amps inductive
• Maximum size of electrical motor that may be
  switched is 1.3 hp, 230 v, 50 hz
• Maximum water depth is 20m
• You may switch the power via the float switch,
  but the best and safest arrangement
• is to use a low voltage such as 12 to 24v ac or
  dc through the switch, and use a relay

• How do they work

• 2 designs of float switches are available
• Both float switch work in the same way
• Standard switch has integral weight, economy
  switch has a separate weight
• The weight acts as the pivot point for the switch
• When the switch tilts to the angle shown an
  electrical circuit is made or broken

• How do they work, electrically

• The economy and standard floats have the same
  wiring
• The switches have three wires, brown, black
  blue
• The Brown wire is the common
• By connection of Brown Black, or Brown Blue
  wires the electrical circuit
• may be made or broken, you therefore have the
  option of normally open
• or closed circuit on filling or emptying
