3Artist Statement When I sit down to begin a new
project, I try to imagine how it will turn out
and why I am doing it. I will often look back at
my art and say Its not bad or It could be
better. But sometimes I finish that one piece
that doesnt seem as if it can get any better
reminding me why I keep doing art. The joy of
seeing my art being admired by others is a
feeling that is hard to top. When I have to make
decisions while I am working, I try to imagine
the way each choice would look when I finished
it. But other times I just have to go with gut
feeling or what has worked in the past. I rarely
go out on a limb and try to do new crazy things.
I try to keep my style the same for the most
part. My current project is a project that will
push me to the very limits of my painting skills.
I will begin on a mural down the athletic hall
of MCHS commemorating MC Baseball and Grant
Ringenberg. It will be about 5x8 feet and
require great amounts of detail, but I am
expecting great results from this project because
of my passion for what I am painting for.
4A Taste of Fruit
This was an oil painting done for a commission
for my mom.
5Galloping MustangThis picture was created
originally to compete for the Middle Creek High
School 2005-2006 Student Directory cover. The
piece was eventually selected. I have always
considered pointillism and stippling to be my
best medium along with oil paints.
6Gulls by the CapeThis was a piece that was also
done in pointillism around the same time as
Galloping Mustang. I enjoyed this piece but
the grass in the lower right corner was more
difficult than I intended it to be, but it still
turned out nice.
7StretchedThis was done with pastels after a
photo of myself was printed out and had a grid
drawn on it with 1x1 inch squares. Then the
final work paper had a grid drawn on it with
squares of 2x5 inches. This ended up stretching
the picture vertically at a 25 ratio which gave
it a look I became very fond of once it was
completed.
8A Sour Bite!! This was a mask mad to represent an
African tribal mask. It is made from
papier-mâché with a coat of acrylic paint and
permanent marker for the fine details. I enjoyed
doing this mask because of the face the mask
appears to me making.
9Go Pack!!This was a monoprint done last year
during Art II. I really enjoyed it because I
love the way the ink that you use behaves. It
seems to go exactly where you want it to go and
not where you dont want it. I just got lucky
and had it turn out the way I wanted it. It
ended up having a nice monoprint style at the
end.

11Serious ShoesThis drawing was done with pencil
during the Fall semester of the 05-06 school year
in Art II. It was designed to be a shoe add for
a company of a shoe that I got to choose. At
this time pencil sketches had been my favorite
medium but soon turned to painting after I
discovered oil paints.

13All AboutThis was piece done in color pencil
after a collage was created from a different
collection of pictures. I then gridded the
original and copied the photos realistically onto
a new piece of paper.
14Randolph Covered Bridge This was a oil paint
landscape of the Randolph County Covered Bridge.
This bridge has recently been destroyed because
of a flood so I decided it would be nice to paint
it to keep a memory of it.
15SkyscraperThis is an oil painting done during
Honors Art IV. It is my favorite piece of art I
have ever done.
16Middle Creek Baseball This is a mural done down
the athletic hall of MCHS. It is designed for MC
Baseball as a whole and to remember Grant
Ringenberg. The mural is not quite complete but
should be finished a week or two into the Summer
after school is over.
