Race of the Day Boys Varsity Mile
Romans hawk one of the Citys Best Lares of
Franklin
13
Just into the 3rd lap, the field has really
strung out. Mariano has run just behind Lares
from the gun. Michael has hung back about 10
meters and held.
14
With 300 to go, Mariano goes to the front.
Michael begins to pull them both back
15
In a crazy finish, Mariano holds off a fast
charging Michael and a tough, but fading Lares.
The lapped Bravo runner in the background and a
very sandy final turn made for some dicey running
in the drive to the finish. Romans go 1,2,4,5,6
in the race.
16
Without a doubt, Mariano is the athlete of this
meet, defeating Lares in the Mile and head to
head on the first leg of the 4 x 800. He
finished the day off with an impressive carry on
the first leg of the 4x400, finishing 2nd to a
group of sprinters. Definitely a day to be proud
of.
