• Club Dead
• Many people joined political clubs during the
  revolution
• clubs spearheaded revolutionary changes on how
  French governed themselves
• Three influential political clubs
• Girondists, Jacobins and Sans Culottes
• Girondists and Jacobins middle class political
  clubs and were moderates
• wanted sweeping changes in the French govt
• The San Culottes mostly poor people of Paris and
  larger cities
• supported the radicals like Jacobins
• After Louis XVI beheading, moderate Girondists
  persecuted in period called Reign of Terror.

• Between 1793-1794 over 37 000 people executed by
  Robespierre regime and Jacobin radicals
• Robespierre destroyed all opposition to new
  French govt
• made sweeping changes
• people began to fear Robespierres power
• he too was guillotined
• France bloodied itself with its monarchy,
  aristocrats, moderates, radicals
