  • Two potential and mutually incompatible uses
  • Abundance - need constant fluorescence efficiency
  • Physiology - need variable fluorescence
    efficiency.

  • Ff chance getting an absorbed photon to PSII
    and then back out again
  • Variability comes from quenching
  • Photochemical quenching (qP)
  • Non-photochemical quenching
