Limnology- subsystem of hydrology that deals with
the scientific study of fresh waters,
specifically those found in lakes and ponds. The
discipline also includes the biological,
physical, and chemical aspects of the occurrence
of lake and pond waters.

Limnology traditionally is closely related to
hydrobiology,which is concerned with the
application of the principles and methods of
physics, chemistry, geology, and geography to
ecological problems.

EDUCATION

If you are interested in a marine-related career,
you should enroll in as many chemistry, earth
science, biology, physics, computer science, and
mathematics classes as possible, both in high
school and in college. It is important not to
specialize too early. English and speech courses
are also important since a great deal of a
professional's time is spent writing proposals,
papers, and articles and giving oral
presentations.

There are opportunities for those who do not
continue their education beyond high school, but
they are generally limited to technical support
positions. Marine technicians use instruments and
computers to collect and analyze data, but they
do not usually interpret data, write reports, or
give presentations.

Some positions for technicians do require
post-secondary school training, and it can often
be obtained through two-year community colleges.
About 30 U.S. schools offer specialized technical
training in marine-related fields. One of the
main universities in this field, that is in
Florida, is University of Miami.

the county and state parks. Some are with the
cities or Volusia county itself.

For instance there are many issues dealing with
fresh water that the Environmental Management
Council of Volusia county deal with. As in all of
Florida, both salt and fresh water are major
resources and attractions to its recreation.

Rose Bay has a vast brackish water, which means
that the water is both fresh and salt mixed.All
of the land creatures depend on there being fresh
water around. A limnologist can make sure that
that water is safe enough for the animals there.
And keep it in good order for us and the
ecosystem around there
