- and Scheme of Operation
2What the CPD Programme is
- It is a registry controlled by the UIA with an
index of resources, publications and different
materials for the permanent training of
architects. - The specificity of this registry, is that all the
CPD material included, fulfils the minimum
requirements of quality (guidelines) approved by
the UIA Council.
3The role of the UIA
- The UIA shall not create a CPD system, nor will
offer directly any kind of training material.
That is not its purpose. - The UIA limits itself to providing a full,
classified information on all the CPD material
included in the registry, the way in which to
contact the providers and a description of the
procedures so that the users may assess it in a
positive or negative way.
4The role of the UIA
- The UIA shall not act as intermediary in the
relations between providers and users and
therefore the UIA shall not be held responsible
for these relations. - The UIA opens the opportunity to the member
sections to organize their own permanent training
plans for architects, either by means of already
existing material, or by means of the demands
notice board, where they can leave their demands
on specific courses that they may think are
necessary for their architects.
5The role of Member Sections
- UIA member sections should disclose the UIA CPD
Pprogramme between their architects. All
available means of communication may be useful to
that purpose. - UIA member sections will receive all the
information needed about the CPD Programme. The
portal web, originally in English and French,
will be soon translated to other languages.
6 Economic obligations
- UIA member sections dont have any economic
obligation as consequence of the UIA CPD
Programme. - Only when member sections act as providers of cpd
material, and want to include that material in
the quality registry, will pay a fee. - Fees paid by UIA member sections when they act as
providers, will be more favorable than those
charged to regular providers.
7 Economic obligations
- Architects dont pay any fee to the UIA CPD
Programme, they will only pay the fee that the
provider charges to anybody for attending their
cpd material, courses, etc. - The fee that architects should pay to the
provider, will be shown in the information given
by the UIA CPD Programme about all the registered
material.
8Structure of the Programme
- The JOC (Joint Oversight Committee) It is a
committee created within the UIA that as its main
task is in charge of doing the follow up of the
programme and the analysis of the proposals and
strategies for their later debate and the
reaching of binding agreements by the Council.
9Structure of the Programme
- The GPO (General Programme Operator) It is the
operator of the UIA CPD Programme, responsible
for its correct running. It has a permanent
relation with the JOC. - The GPO will be set up as a Spanish trading
Company with its headquarters in Madrid. The
CSCAE will be the principal partner, it will put
at the UIAs disposal a gratis share and it shall
offer some additional shares to those member
sections of the UIA that want to participate as
partners with the operator.
10Structure of the Programme
- The General Guidelines These are the eleven
minimum requirements that any training material
has to fulfil in order to obtain the UIA quality
label. They have been approved by the UIA Council
in Vancouver. - The Guidelines are not static norms and they will
change and improve with time. All variations will
have to be approved by the UIA Council.
11The eleven guidelines
- Do the contents and objectives of the CPD
material meet the needs of architects in terms of
Continuous Development? - Are the training objectives of the CPD material
best suited to the development of professional
practice, or to improving the social profile of
architects? - Is the CPD material provided generic and non
marketing oriented? - Are the contents of the course adequate for the
professional context in which they are delivered?
12The eleven guidelines
- Is the information provided by the CPD material
accurate? - Are there adequate resources to support the
objectives of the CPD material? - Are the learning method and the length of the CPD
material adequate to meet the intended outcomes? - Would different editions of the same CPD material
guarantee consistent outcomes for all students?
13The eleven guidelines
- Is there a provision for learning assessment to
be carried out by students? - Is there an assessment method in place, or plans
to have it in the future? - Is the CPD material available to a majority of
architects within the context in which it is
delivered?
