(April 2003) Together, Microsoft and Java
technologies will command 80 percent or more of
new e-business application development (AD)
initiatives through 2008 (0.8 probability).
However, we believe that neither the Microsoft
nor the Java platform will dominate during this
period. Instead, both platforms will garner
roughly equal market share. Through 2008, AD
organizations will face the major challenge of
choosing between these two de facto standards for
their efforts. Equally challenging will be
creating best practices, policies and strategies
for managing environments that include elements
from both platforms.
