2Formation Flying a technological
challenge covering several domains
- at system level
- distributed architecture (space and ground)
- autonomy
- distributed FDIR
- system verification and validation
- at satellite level
- relative metrology
- RF and optical
- accurate control
- relative position and attitude
- flight dynamics
- actuators
- Inter Satellite Link
- software architecture
- at instrument level
- optical nulling technologies
- interferometric laboratoy test bench
- nulling interferometer for Pegase, Darwin
- laser optical test equipments for LISA
- gamma-ray diffractive lens
- detectors IR, X and Gamma ray
- cooling
- innovative future instrumentation concepts
3Main goals for CNES RT studies
To master formation flying key technologies to be
able to perform ground demonstrations as early as
2006 and in-flight demonstrations in 2010/2012
- from 2004 to end 2005
- during phases 0 for Astronomy (ASPICS MAX PEGASE
SIMBOL-X) - to master generic FF key technologies
- from 2006
- after CPS (Scientific Program Committee)
recommendations - to concentrate on FF technologies useful for
SIMBOL-X - to prepare PEGASE
- to work on MAX payload
