A Roadmap for the Learning Society
The pioneering vision of Paul
Lengrand for Lifelong Learning, as outlined in
his UNESCO 1970 speech Congruent
agreements towards the progressive establishment
of a common European University Educational
framework, have been also signed by 29 national
representatives in Bologna, 1999
European Council declaration, Lisbon March 2000,
to become the most competitive and dynamic
knowledge-based economy in the world, capable of
sustainable economic growth with more and better
jobs and greater social cohesion
if a noble vision, for a common European
University Educational framework. is to become
true, a common accreditation and employment
mediation system must be designed and applied
5Education 2000 - a 3-stage model
An integral 3-stage technological model for
Education and Labor interleave and
intensification
- Despite the phenomenal progress in
Internet era technology and proliferation of
commercial and publications-related applications,
progress and adoption of this era in the
educational domain has not met a commensurate
evolution. - Apparently, more than one milestone
features will have to be introduced to the
technological and educational developments of the
21st Century as to generate the desired shift to
virtualization in education, along with the
necessary social awareness upraising and
motivation support initiatives. -
- This presentation introduces an
integral 3-stage roadmap for implementing an
effective and pragmatic delivery, of a
technological model able to interleave and render
an individuals employment and academic profile,
as inter-nested to his/her life-through
education. Effectively, this model is realized as
a set of next-generation distributed applications
for - Audited database classification and maintenance
of an individuals integral and dynamic profile
of dexterities and qualifications acquired along
carrier path, as an intermediate link between
industry and academy, as well as provision of
automated employment profile correlation and
matching. - Distributed Information Repository Servers as a
mediation and engagement environment for project
collaboration and management between industry and
graduate or post-graduate academic layers - c) Thematic Knowledge Repositories as an
accompanying asset to an individuals academic
and employment capacity. Primary infrastructure
for delivering an aggregative model of
distributed knowledge and distributed services,
as a forestep for implementing the virtual
enterprise of knowledge workers.

Educational Databases Organization System
Flow diagram of the relation between vertical and
horizontal activities in formal institutional
accreditation and curriculum registration
databases, along with major policy cycles served
The schema further demonstrates the basic
flow diagram of this synergistic relation between
vertical and horizontal activities, between
institutional accreditation and curriculum
registration databases, as well as the major
trend policies that are eventually served by the
long term operation of this model. Indeed,
fostering of at least- 3 major socio-educational
motives should progressively evolve,
namely sustain awareness and employment dynamics
evolution, maintain active employment promotion
and mediation services, create and motivate
towards an interleave opportunity between
employment and education. Â
