A Short History of DSCP
  • 1800 - Schuylkill Arsenal constructed in
    Philadelphia
  • Arsenal contracted with local seamstresses to
    make uniforms by hand in their own homes
  • After the War of 1812, the mission changed to
    manufacturing, storing and distributing clothing
    textile materiel
  • Hired over 10,000 seamstresses and tailors to
    make uniforms during the Civil War

Short History of DSCP
  • 1926 Facility renamed Philadelphia
    Quartermaster Depot
  • 1942 Location changes, clothing factory opens
  • 1965 Renamed Defense Personnel Support Center
  • Mission expands to include Subsistence Medical
    functions
  • 1998 Renamed Defense Supply Center Philadelphia
  • 1999 DSCP absorbs the Construction Equipment
    mission when the Defense Industrial Supply Center
    is disestablished
