2What is Pop Art?
- Pop Art was first defined in Britain during the
1950s. - The artists had a large interest in the mass
media, advertising, comics and consumer products.

3- Pop Art occurred mainly in Britain and in the
United States. - It was linked to the wealth and prosperity to the
post World War II era. - Pop Art also decreased the gap between "high art"
and "low art" and eliminated the distinction
between fine art and commercial art methods.

- Andy Warhol was born Andrew Warhola in
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in 1928. - He entered the Carnegie Institute of Technology
(now Carnegie Mellon University) in 1945, where
he majored in pictorial design.

career as a commercial artist, winning several
commendations from the Art Director's Club and
the American Institute of Graphic Arts. - During these years he
