What is Tinnitus?

• Tinnitus is the perception of sound in the ears
  or head when no external sound is present. It is
  commonly described as ringing, buzzing, hissing,
  or whistling, but it can vary from person to
  person. While tinnitus itself is not a disease,
  it is a symptom that can be caused by various
  factors, such as hearing loss, ear infections,
  exposure to loud noises, head injuries, or even
  stress and anxiety.
• The condition can be temporary or chronic, and
  the intensity of the sound can range from mild to
  severe, affecting one or both ears. Although
  tinnitus is not usually a sign of a serious
  health problem, it can be bothersome, affecting
  concentration, sleep, and overall quality of
  life.
• Tinnitus can be managed through various
  treatments, including sound therapy, cognitive
  behavioral therapy, medications, and lifestyle
  changes.
