Title:

Bali79 Antonio Blanco 4, Artistic eccentricity

Description:

Antonio Maria Blanco (1912-1999) built a house and museum in Ubud which contains many of his paintings. The Blanco Renaissance Museum, Antonio's lifetime dream, was opened on December 28, 1998 at his residence in a beautiful environment, where more than 300 works of Antonio are exposed in chronological order to show his artistic development. The sumptuous and impressive building offers a glimpse of the theatrical character of the artist. He emulated the flamboyance of Dali, to whom he has been compared. Blanco portrayed women in a whole new light and perhaps for that reason he is often called “the Dali of Bali.” Blanco’s work includes erotic art; some visitors may find these types of expressionist paintings shocking. – PowerPoint PPT presentation

A 50-foot green marble sculpture (15.24 meters)
serves as a decorative gate into the museum. The
sculpture is modeled after Blancos own
signature, and the height (in meters) represents
his birthday, (September 15) and is the biggest
signature in the world. Don Antonio Blanco is
often called "The Dali of Bali", but most of his
artworks are stricken may be not by it techniques
but its elegance of frames and their harmonious
match with the picture. As you enter, youll
notice golden Balinese dancers at each corner of
the roof, and the goddess Saraswati (the Hindu
goddess of knowledge, a favorite muse of
Blancos) topping off the whole building.

Thanks to life that has given me so much It gave
me two eyes that when opened Can perfectly
distinguish black from white And the sky so high
with its starry scape   Thanks to life that has
given me so much It has given me sounds and the
alphabet With all the words I can think and
say Mother, friend, brother   Thanks to life that
has given me so much It has given me the step of
my feet With which I walk city streets and
country sides Beaches, mountains and
plains   Thanks to life that has given me so
much You gave me my heart which beats When I look
at the result of the human being When I see all
the good, so far from the bad When I see deep
into your clear eyes   Thanks to life that has
given me so much It has given me laughter and it
has given me tears So I can distinguish between
joy and pain The two materials that form my
song And your song, is the same song   Thanks to
life that has given me so much
