A flat tyre can leave you stranded on the
roadside, but with the right knowledge and tools,
you can often fix it yourself. This guide will
walk you through the process of safely changing a
flat tyre or performing a temporary repair to get
you back on the road.

Gather Necessary Tools and Materials You'll need
a spare tyre, jack, lug wrench, wheel chocks,
gloves, flashlight, and possibly a Tyre pressure
gauge and Tyre sealant. Having proper equipment
makes the job simpler.

Inspect the Flat Tyre Before jacking up the
vehicle, inspect the flat Tyre for any objects
like nails that may be puncturing it. Removing
these objects can allow you to potentially plug
the hole and re-inflate the Tyre rather than
fully replacing it.

Position the Vehicle Properly Park on a flat tyre
to repair properly on solid level surface.
Engage the parking brake and place wheel chocks
in front and behind the Tyres staying on the
ground. This prevents rolling.

Loosen the Lug Nuts Use the lug wrench to loosen
the nuts by turning counterclockwise. Don't
remove them fully yet - just break the resistance.

Jack Up the Vehicle Place the jack in the proper
spot under the frame. Jack up the vehicle until
the Tyre repair is completely off the ground.
Make sure the vehicle is stable.

Remove the Tyre Fully unscrew the lug nuts by
hand and set them aside. Pull the flat Tyre away
from the wheel mount.

Mount the Spare Tyre Put the spare Tyre on the
wheel mount flush against the hub. Re-tighten the
lug nuts by hand until snug.

Lower the Vehicle Turn the jack release valve
counterclockwise to slowly lower the vehicle onto
the new Tyre. Ensure it's resting on the ground
before removing the jack.

Secure the Spare Use the lug wrench to tighten
the nuts in a star pattern. Check the torque if
you have a torque wrench. Refer to the owner's
manual for lug nut torque specifications.

Re-inflate the Tyre Use a pressure gauge to check
the spare's inflation. Fill it to the vehicle's
recommended Tyre pressure.
