Ingrid Smuling (Dutch, 1944) I followed my
education at the Royal Academy of Art in The
Hague (final exam 1964), where I also live and
work. Inspired by nature, by flowers and fruits,
I compose my still lifes in oil paint, in a
modest format, often in combination with old
porcelain, earthenware and silver. My aim is to
portray harmony and stillness with a clearly
recognizable touch in an atmospheric contemporary
realism. My work painting within painting forms
a separate series. Renaissance portraits are
incorporated in a still life, but also portraits
from other times are included.
