Common Mental Disorders in Children
  • Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
  • ADHD is a mental disorder characterized by
elevated levels of hyperactivity. Children with
ADHD struggle to sustain their focus on a single
task for extended periods and find it challenging
to remain seated for extended periods. They may
also exhibit impulsive behaviors, such as
engaging in risky activities, struggling to wait
    in line, or interrupting conversations.
  • Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
  • PTSD is a mental disorder that stems from
prolonged emotional distress, giving rise to
    nightmares, anxiety, and disruptive behaviors
following exposure to violence, abuse, injury, or
other traumatic events. It is typically triggered
by a traumatic incident and often results in
    frequent flashbacks.
  • Schizophrenia
  • Schizophrenia is a prevalent mental disorder in
children, causing them to lose touch with
    reality. Those with schizophrenia experience
disruptions in their thoughts and perceptions and
may also encounter hallucinations and delusions.
  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
  • ASD is a neurological condition that typically
manifests in early childhood, usually by the age
of 3. Children with ASD experience challenges in
interacting and communicating with others. They
may also exhibit behavioral disturbances, have a
flat speech pattern, limited eye contact, and
    experience delays in speech development.
  • Anxiety Disorder
  • Anxiety disorders in children are characterized
by persistent fear and worry that impede their
ability to perform well at school, engage in
play, or navigate social situations. Some
children with this mental disorder may suffer
from social anxiety, while others may exhibit
    compulsive behaviors, such as OCD.
