TMT Bars

• Thermo-mechanically treated bars are
  high-strength reinforcement bars manufactured
  using a special process that gives them a hard
  exterior and soft interior. TMT bars are used in
  the construction of different structures like
  bridges and dams, high-rise buildings, commercial
  residential buildings, industrial projects,

Manufacturing Process TMT Bars

  TMT Bars. The main components of a TMT bar
  include iron ore, coal, and dolomite. The bars
  are manufactured through a special process that
  is as follows
• Iron ore is converted to steel through the
  beneficiation process, where all the impurities
  float on top of the molten iron in the form of
  slag. This slag is then discarded, and what is
  left behind is liquified steel.
• The molten steel is poured into a mould that
  gives the bars their desired length and shape.

Process Of Manufacturing TMT Bars

• Once the hot rolled bars are released, they go
  through the Quenching process. Here, the bars
  enter a water spraying system that rapidly cools
  their exterior and ensures their ductility.
• Then, the bars go through the Self-Tempering
  process. The core remains hotter than the
  surface, which allows the heat to flow from the
  core to the surface, thus forming the Martensite
  layer.
• Now, the bars are ready for Atmospheric cooling.
  The bars are left to cool on cooling beds at
  normal temperatures. This process results in the
  core turning into ferrite-pearlite. This process
  increases the tensile strength of the bars and
  increases their ductility and weldability.
